Remember Jesse, the troubled orphan who befriends an orca at a water park and ends up setting him free into the wild? Well, since 'Free Willy,' it seems that lovable, endearing, whole-hearted boy has grown into some real trouble as an adult. 

Jason James Richter was recently arrested for domestic violence, TMZ reports. The former child actor spent two nights in jail before being released on US$20,000 bail. 

Richter apparently had an argument with his girlfriend at around 7 p.m.at their home in the San Fernando Valley, in which he asked her if she was having an affair. 

According to law enforcement sources, things escalated and the girlfriend retreated into the bedroom, locking the door. Richter allegedly broke the door down and pulled her into the living room. 

A few hours later, she went to the police station, without visible marks, and filed a report claiming domestic violence. The couple's accounts of what happened differ, but Richter was arrested and charged with one count of vandalism for breaking the door, and another count of battery on a significant other with no physical injury.

If convicted, Richter reportedly faces up to a year behind bars.
