Study finds that Smiths fans are “neurotic”

If you are a fan of The Smiths you may be neurotic, an academic study has suggested. The study analyzed people’s Facebook likes and was conducted by Stanford and Cambridge University Psychometrics Center. The consulting firm, Cambridge Analytica, which has been thrown into hot water for harvesting data from more than 50 million Facebook profiles, then "adapted its approach to personality modeling" based on the data.
The study was made via the Facebook app myPersonality. As reported by Pitchfork, the 100-question quiz was developed by the Psychometrics Center. It assessed user's “openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness and neuroticism.” 70,000 people responded to the study and this is what was found. As Pitchfork reports, the “most neurotic” music fans like The Smiths, Placebo, and Marilyn Manson. Meanwhile, the “most open” people are fans of Björk and Tom Waits. The “least agreeable” people like bands Rammstein and Judas Priest.
