MUSIC Music

When hitting the dance floor on a Saturday night out with friends, do you ever think of the morals behind the music? As the #MeToo and Time's Up movements have uncovered sexual abuse throughout the entertainment industry, DJs are beginning to question if misconduct should have an effect on musical playlists.

“As DJs, we literally make a song hot or not,” said Fab Roc, a New York City-based DJ who has worked at corporate events and local hip-hop and R&B parties, told Mic.com. “If we stop playing certain people’s music at events, it speaks volumes and it can also set the trend for people to care.”

There is a troublingly long list of performers and artists who have been publicly accused of sexual assault and misconduct. While most people don't expect radio stations and DJs to deep dive into every musician's history, there are some repeated offenders who could obviously be affected.
