Jaden Smith has a vision beyond his years. In a recent interview with Quartzy, the young rapper discusses how he plans to influence the world outside of the music industry.

Smith explained how one of his biggest heroes is Elon Musk, the engineer and business investor behind Tesla and SpaceX. He looks up to Musk, "as a thinker, as an entrepreneur, as a helper to humanity," Smith said. "I want to be that person who can change people’s lives so drastically in every way as well."

While other rappers write lyrics about Mercedes or Cadillacs, in Smith's 2017 debut album, 'Syre,' he drops an ode to Musk. "Were you goin’ fast son? Yes, sir, it was that autopilot on the Tesla," he raps.

In 2015, Smith started an environmentally friendly bottled water company called Just Water. Though the plastic-free packaging isn't exactly comparable to all-electric sports cars, Smith sees a future where he can make a significant impact on the materials humans use.

“My final vision is to take that huge amount of plastic and turn it into an industry of creating [points to a piece of dry wall], you know, this is a bunch of Just Waters compressed into a cardboard material," Smith said. "This will just be our clay for the next few decades."

With eyes on a brighter future, Smith is well on his way to making a world of change.
