CELEBRITY Stephen Hawking

Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking was one of most well-known thinkers and scientists to shape the world. Outside of the science community, he was frequent in pop culture references.

In 1999, Hawking turned cartoon in a cameo of 'The Simpsons.' In the Season 10 episode, 'They Saved Lisa's Brain,' Hawking appears to save the day when the town's utopian meritocracy crumbled.

"I wanted to see your utopia, but now I see it is more of a fruitopia," Hawking's character says through his noise box.

Hawking also made several appearances on the hit sitcom 'The Big Bang Theory.' Seeing as Hawking spent much of his life studying the principle, he was an iconic guest star.

In the 2012 episode where Sheldon finally gets the chance to meet his lifelong hero, Hawking is reviewing his paper and says, "You made an arithmetic mistake on page two. It was quite a boner."

While his scientific discovery made him a genius, his humor and appearances in pop culture made him a star.
