In an interview with Express, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson discussed the importance of being open about mental health. He pointed out the stigma surrounding young men about expressing their emotions and how he himself had to overcome hiding his hardships.

“Struggle and pain is real. I was devastated and depressed,” Johnson said. “I reached a point where I didn’t want to do a thing or go anywhere. I was crying constantly."

There is often a tendency among young men to believe being open about mental health would impact their masculinity. With celebrities such as "The Rock" saying it's okay to cry sometimes, this toxic belief is evolving.

In a tweet about the interview, Johnson captioned the post, "Got tons of responses to this. Thank you. We all go thru the sludge/sh*t and depression never discriminates," he wrote. "Took me a long time to realize it but the key is to not be afraid to open up. Especially us dudes have a tendency to keep it in. You’re not alone."

As a vocal advocate for those struggling with depression, Johnson is helping to create a more positive environment for emotional outreach.
