White House aid Kelly Sadler set the internet aflame with her controversial statement regarding Sen. John McCain's stage four brain cancer diagnosis, according to USA Today. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Kumail Nanjiani promptly took to Twitter with the response, “What was said about McCain was vile, but I wish the McCain’s had been as offended and vocal when vile stuff was said about other people/races/nationalities. Perhaps we wouldn’t be in this moment right now."

He went on to claim that McCain could have done more work on behalf of minorities during his time in the White House. The senator's daughter then issued her own statement on Twitter asserting that her father has always spoken up "against bigotry of all kinds" and that the actor "knows nothing" about the politician or his family. 

Nanjiani openly apologized to Meghan McCain on Twitter stating that "if we had more politicians like your father, the world would be a better place." With little delay, the senator's daughter accepted the apology with a simple "Thank you." 

The feud seemingly ended on May 14th with Nanjiani's heartfelt response, "Thank you for reading this response. I hope you and your family are doing okay." As of now, there has been no further communication between Nanjiani and McCain on social media.
