Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein appeared at the New York Supreme Court on June 5 to plead not guilty to rape and criminal sex charges, according to NME.

After officially turning himself in last month (May 25), Weinstein has now reappeared to put forward his plea. When he initially surrendered himself, the movie mogul was charged with two counts of rape and one count of a criminal sex act. His bail was posted for $1 million.

Weinstein's lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, issued a statement that read, “After being unfairly denied access to critical information about this case that was needed to defend him before the grand jury, Mr. Weinstein’s attorneys decided there was not sufficient time to properly prepare Mr. Weinstein.”

He continued to explain on behalf of his client that, “The announcement of Mr. Weinstein’s indictment, does not come as a surprise… We remind everyone that an indictment is merely a formal accusation. Mr. Weinstein intends to enter a plea of not guilty and vigorously defend against these unsupported allegations that he strongly denies.”

If convicted of all charges, Weinstein could face up to 25 years in prison.
