CELEBRITY Anthony bordain

Patton Oswalt, the actor and stand-up comedian, garnered massive attention on June 10 when he posted an old e-mail on Twitter from the beloved 'Parts Unknown' host Anthony Bourdain, who tragically took his own life on June 8, 2018.

When Oswalt was planning his honeymoon to Paris with his wife Meredith Salenger in 2017, he reached out to the esteemed cuisine connoisseur. The actor sent Bourdain a list of restaurant recommendations the couple had received, and the legendary traveler had a response that was as blunt, witty, and utterly authentic as one might expect.

Bourdain advised the comedian to disregard the advice he received from other friends and family, saying that these restaurant could be found "everywhere." The television host simply stated that "this is no way to enjoy Paris." He went on to give Oswalt a list of eateries that he thought would be a better fit.

The overall message of the e-mail that perhaps summarizes Bourdain's fearless spirit the best was the statement, "Try to plan as little as possible."

As Bourdain's fans mourn this great loss, Oswalt's tribute is a warm reminder of the adventurous and brutally honest globe-trotting storyteller that so many had come to love.
