United States Senator Marco Rubio gave his two cents on the controversy surrounding NFL players refusing to kneel for the National Anthem. In an interview with TMZ, the Florida politician said, "I wish sports were just about sports."

The ongoing debate surrounds whether or not professional football players should have a choice when it comes to participating in the traditional pre-game National Anthem ceremony.

"Personally, I wish there was a place where we could go on Sundays in the Fall and kind of get away from politics for three hours," Rubio continued. "That's how most people feel about it," he said.

When asked about the solution to the ongoing debate Rubio simply stated, "I don't know what the right answer is. We got our hands full here!"

Football fans, players, and politicians alike are continuing to debate the balance between freedom of speech and unity of ceremony. Though the NFL passed an official motion saying any player who does not want to participate in the National Anthem must leave the field altogether, commentators on both sides of the issue are vocalizing concerns with the ruling.
