CELEBRITY A star is born

The world is falling in love with 'A Star is Born' with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. The film follows an insecure singer who comes to find her light and love in another struggling artist. While most of the movie is fiction, there is one insulting line, that Cooper came up with on his own.

There is one scene where Lady Gaga's character is in the bathtub and Cooper's character calls her "ugly." Lady Gaga's reaction to the unscripted comment is 100% real.

In an interview with News.com.au, Cooper explained his motivation for the insult. “I remember we had done two takes and I felt very good about the scene, but, like most of the days, I just felt like we have to mine everything possible, so we just did one more, he explained. “Jack was a little bit darker and it was a hard scene but her reaction was so perfect.”

Cooper went on to explain exactly why he decided to add that line in. “What Jackson does to her in that moment is go to the most vulnerable place. That’s what she shared with him early on at the cop bar (that she felt ugly), so it’s to story," he said. “I think because we both felt so safe together acting, it was all personal in a sense that we were completely invested in telling the story together, all was safe. It doesn’t mean that things weren’t hard but it never felt like a violation or anything like that.”

'A Star is Born' was released to theatres on October 5, 2018.
