Ariana Grande has not left the spotlight once this year, for reasons both good and bad. She ended one relationship, started another, lost someone she really cared about, released a killer new album, got a bunch of matching couple tattoos, ended her relationship, and dropped the greatest breakup track ever.
Along the way she also somehow managed to ignite a huge trend. If you aren't aware, the pint-sized pop star also happens to be the queen of something called "lampshading," which is pairing an oversized sweatshirt with over-the-knee boots—pants not included.

Because pants are so 2017, right?
Fashion search engine Lyst uses social media, search, and sales data to rank celebrities' influence in their 2018 Year in Fashion Report, and they found that, thanks to Grande's signature style, there was a whopping 130% increase in searches for oversized sweaters.
The 25-year-old singer was also the reason for spikes in searches for brands like Reebok (with whom Grande has an ongoing partnership), Burberry, and Vera Wang.
Other celebrities have also driven up very specific searches, like the Gucci balaclava Rihanna wore to Coachella, which increased searches for the item by 19%. Yes, a knit mask. She also paired it with a rose gold bangle that doubles as a flask. Legendary.

But neither of these celebrities were as influential as Kylie Jenner, who even surpassed the influence of Meghan Markle.
