What can be said about Renée Zellweger? The answer is a lot, as the Hollywood star is far more complex than you thought. She didn’t come from a family of actors or musicians, but was born to Scandinavian parents in the city of Katy in Texas. School introduced the young star to many of her talents, from cheerleading to playing basketball to becoming a speech team member. She worked as a cocktail waitress to support her family while at school, and that work ethic took her all the way to Hollywood.

Zellweger started her career with small roles, in ‘Reality Bites’ and ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.’ It’s only been up from here, with the actress taking on more and more ambitious roles over the years. Her breakthrough came in ‘Jerry Maguire,’ starring as a single mother, and stealing the screen even alongside Tom Cruise.

Fast forward to 2019, and Renée Zellweger is an established star of modern cinema. She will star as Judy Garland in ‘Judy,’ making a long-awaited return to awards season. Zellweger is also the leading lady in ‘What/If,’ a thrilling Netflix show that’s definitely turning heads. This comes after Zellweger took a six-year hiatus, from 2010 to 2016.

Renée Zellweger is more than just an amazing actress. She’s done plenty of work offscreen, like her work in fashion. Zellweger has become something of a style icon, always drawing attention on the red carpet. She has often worn dresses designed by Carolina Herrera, and has collaborated with fashion brands like Tommy Hilfiger. What’s more, Zellweger has done a fair bit of charity work too. She has been involved in HIV prevention campaigns, and visited Liberia with The Great Initiative, a gender equality foundation.

The actress has won a fair few awards over the years. She took home an Oscar in 2004, winning Best Supporting Actress for her performance in ‘Cold Mountain.’ Her turn also won a BAFTA and a Golden Globe. With two major roles in 2019, Renée Zellweger seems to be back for good. To celebrate, click on, and revisit her revolutionary career>
