Comme Des Garçons will launch a new online brand next year. The announcement was made by label chief Adrian Joffe at China's first Dover Street Market. As picked up by Vogue, Joffe said “Nobody knows yet, but what I can tell you is it’s going to be internet-based.” Joffe also revealed that his wife and business partner, Rei Kawakubo, is hard at work preparing the website. The online launch is scheduled for July 2018, followed by the opening of six stores around the world.
Joffe told Vogue the collection will be “simple” and tailored for both men and women. The exciting announcement comes during a renaissance for Comme Des Garçons. Vogue reports that the label’s sales have increased by 30%, totaling $300 million. Impressive stuff. Meanwhile, their New York store has seen profits rocket, with a 50% sales boost. This could be down to the 2017 Met Gala. The influential event made Rei Kawakubo and Comme Des Garçons both the theme and the dress code.
