With summer right around the corner, sunglasses with chains have returned to the fashion world. Popularized by Annie Potts and Dame Edna Everage, glasses chains are both practical and glamorous. Trendsetter Bella Hadid was recently spotted wearing sunglasses on a chain in New York City. Eyewear retailer Le Specs also recently collaborated with Jordan Askill for chained sunglasses. The products reference ‘90s style with chunky frames and colorful lenses.

Meanwhile, a new chained glasses brand, Frame Chain, was launched on MatchesFashion. Their line features gold-plated products embellished with pearls. The Frame Chain founders started the line “after misplacing three pairs of designer glasses in one week,” as explained on MatchesFashion. Talking with Vogue, Frame Chain cofounder Ann-Margaret Kearney elaborated on why chained sunglasses are in. “I don’t know how many times I have heard people say that they have lost their favourite sunnies,” she said. “We started out because I really needed a glasses chain.” It’s that simple. If you can see yourself losing your shades, invest in some chained sunglasses to secure your summer season.
