FOOD lunch break
While we may be tempted to have our lunch around 1 pm, in the middle of our workday, is this really the best time to break out the sandwiches? Science makes it possible to pinpoint the exact moment we should be having lunch.
If you often feel exhausted by the end of the afternoon, you’re not alone. However, this feeling of being drained can be at least partially countered by eating your lunch at the right moment.
Food expert Daryl Gioffre claims that we should be eating our lunch between 12:30 and 13:00 to decrease the chance of feeling depleted by the end of the day. The easiest way to confirm his theory is simply by trying it yourself.
Research published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition supports the claim that we shouldn’t wait too long before having lunch. In this research, a deadline of 3 pm is mentioned. Eating later apparently makes it harder for your body to process calories, which is far from ideal if you’re trying to lose weight.
What you eat is obviously at least just as important as when you eat it, so this is by no means a free pass to eat doughnuts for breakfast as long as you do it before 3 pm. Keep it healthy!
