HEALTH Post-sex sadness

Post-sex sadness is a true phenomenon and has often been recognized in women, but new research shows that men can experience similar feelings.

A feeling of melancholy after having sex is known as postcoital dysphoria. This means that you experience sadness, irritation or fear right after getting it on with a sexual partner.

Research already proved that it exists for women, but a new research focused on men. More than a thousand men were examined and it turns out nearly half (41%) have experienced the feeling at least once recently. 4% even claim to suffer from it regularly.

Men usually have positive feelings after sex. They are satisfied and feel a stronger bond with their partner. Postcoital dysphoria hinders this positive effect and causes men to look for distractions, feel dissatisfied and wish to be left alone. It is still unclear why these feelings exist. Science has mostly focused on what happens during sex and its climax, but there’s little data about what happens to our brain afterwards>
