The mind-boggling story of crime's most unexpected cowboy
Cowboy Bob fooled the FBI, then did something they’d never expect
When Cowboy Bob first became known around Dallas, Texas, he was identified as 5 ft 10 in, and had a slight belly, a big beard, graying hair, and an air of eerie silence. He was also noted to be polite, though he was, of course, robbing banks.
From 1991 to 1992, this mysterious figure led the FBI on a wild goose chase, hitting several banks without leaving a trace. That is, until he finally did. But what the agents found was not at all what they had been looking for.
Check out this gallery to learn more about Cowboy Bob’s uncanny skill, and buckle in for some major plot twists (note the plural) that kept flipping the FBI's investigation on its head.
