MOVIES Stephen King

Warner Bros. Pictures has officially launched development of Stephen King’s 2013 horror novel 'Doctor Sleep,' which is a sequel to King’s iconic 1977 story 'The Shining.'

"Danny's not here Mrs, Torrance," the line that chilled audiences all over the world in the film adaptation of 'The Shining.' The sequel follows Danny Torrence, an alcoholic still suffering from the traumas that took place at the Overlook Hotel.

The late Stanley Kubrick was the visionary director who brought the original horror story to life. Though he left large shoes to fill, Mike Flanagan appears to be just the man for the job.

With a resume dotted with horror hits, including 'Oculus,' 'Hush,' and 'Absentia,' audiences have high hopes for the director. Flanagan also has experience with King adaptations as he directed 'Gerald’s Game' for Netflix last year.

The director tweeted, “Thrilled and honored to spend some time at the Overlook. CANNOT WAIT.”

'Doctor Sleep' is slated to be released in September 2019.
