The Kevin Spacey Foundation, a charity founded by the Hollywood actor, has shut down after seven years of service. The UK charity was set up in 2011 with the purpose of helping emerging actors in the British entertainment industry. Spacey left the board of directors last November after accusations surfaced of his alleged sexual misconduct. Last year, Spacey was accused of sexual assault by actor Anthony Rapp. Others came forward with similar accounts of abuse as well.
The announcement was made on the charity’s official website. “The trustees have reached the conclusion that the work of the Kevin Spacey Foundation UK is no longer viable," a statement read. “As such the foundation will be closing on the 28 February 2018.”
The charitable organization worked to help young people further their careers in film, theater and dance. The foundation offered scholarships, mentorships, and educational programs for emerging talent.
“The Trustees would like to thank all their partners, artists and organisations for the great work that has been done in association with the Foundation. The Trustees hope that the objects of the charity will be taken forward by other organisations.”
It’s uncertain how this will impact the US branch of the foundation in the future.
