MUSIC Fleetwood mac

Fleetwood Mac have returned to the charts in an unexpected way. The band’s single ‘Dreams’ is at number 14 on America’s Hot Rock Songs chart, Billboard reports. When it was released in 1977, the heartfelt ballad hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at 24 on the UK singles chart. So how did Fleetwood Mac creep back into the nation’s radar? It’s mostly down to a post from Twitter user @bottledfleet. The tweet sarcastically reads “Fleetwood Mac's music is so boring, you can't even dance to it,” with a dancing video attached. The 38-second clip sees a marching band boogie down to ‘Dreams’ during a football game.

As of April 3, the tweet has over 100,000 retweets and 300,000 likes. Billboard reports that as a result, the song surged 36% in download sales, as well as a 24% increase in streams. Fleetwood Mac also hit the Hot Rock Songs chart last year, when their track ‘The Chain’ featured on the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2’ soundtrack.
