This past weekend Jay-Z and Beyoncé dropped their joint album ‘Everything Is Love,’ and audiences are picking the lyrics apart for hidden messages.
On the track 'Friends,' some believe that Jay-Z is hinting about his broken relationship with fellow rapper Kanye West. The two reportedly fell out of contact after Jay-Z and Beyoncé did not attend Kanye and Kim Kardashian's wedding in 2014.
The lyrics in 'Friends' may address why Jay-Z and Beyoncé were not in attendance. “I ain’t going to nobody for nothing when me and my wife beefing,” he raps. "I don’t care if the house on fire, I’m dying, n****, I ain’t leaving Ty Ty take care of my kids, after he done grieving If ya’ll don’t understand that, we ain’t meant to be friends.”
Though Jay-Z has yet to officially announce that this lyric is about his friendship with West, perhaps everything is not love.
