With over 25 years of dedicated work and over a million pieces of tile, a 70-year-old couple created an iconic Los Angeles art installation.

"I needed to build a studio. The house was very ugly, and I needed to do something desperate to beautify it," Cheri told Best LA of her inspiration behind the home makeover. She and her partner, who is also an artist, took on the house piece by piece.

"Gonzalo had done mosaic tiling before so he moved me into making tiles. Little by little, it happened," Cheri said. The couple would paint intricate square tiles and then shatter them before gluing them to the house, the effect is a broken masterpiece.

"They were gonna be 4x4 tiles but then once we broke em' that's when the fun started. It's such a great pastime," Gonzalo said.

The mosaic house is open for visitors and for $15 guests can receive a private tour from the lovely couple.
