TRAVEL Global entry

The Global Entry program was started in 2008 as a way to give particularly trusted travelers a fast-pass when navigating airlines. The benefits include no paperwork, less wait time, and TSA pre-check status. According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports, nearly 6.8 million travelers currently have Global Entry status.

Recently, the Department of Homeland Security released a list of Global Entry members who had their status revoked, and have brought to light that it doesn't take much to lose the privilege. Originally reported by Mic, check out this list of four ways that a traveler could lose their Global Entry status:

1. Taking out travel stress on an officer
A traveler lost their card for not being cooperative during standard search procedures. “The Global Entry Trusted Travelers program is a privilege, not a right, and all passengers, including flight crew, are subject to search,” the report wrote.

2. Failing to declare goods—including duty-free items
One traveler did not declare a precious gemstone she had bought outside of the country. Two days later, she received an e-mail saying her Global Entry had been revoked.

3. Treating Global Entry like a family plan
The trusted traveler status does not extend to your loved ones. The report wrote that one customer, “continued to proceed to exit control with an infant and a family member,” thus losing privilege outright.

4. Forgetting a snack in your bag
When the customs officers ask if you have anything to declare, they don't just mean fruits, vegetables, and live animals. One traveler lost her membership for not reporting a half-eaten bag of chocolate candies.
