Locals around the world have opened up about their views on tourists. An online thread on the Q&A website Quora, asked “What are some of the most cringe-worthy things that tourists do in your country?” Locals were quick to answer, offering dozens of anecdotes about annoying travelers. One writer from Alberta, Canada, answered with the “Top 50 Stupid Questions Asked by Tourists at Banff National Park Gates.” Some of those questions include “At what elevation does an elk become a moose?”

One Amsterdam local had a long list of annoying acts by tourists, which include “peeing in canals” and “speaking German to us.” One Croatian said that hikers in flip-flops were a local concern, relying on Croatian Mountain Rescue Service to save them. A flip-flop ban was even enforced at Plitvice Lakes National Park back in 2016.
